Crater Lake (Maroon Snowmass) Trail

The intermediate Crater Lake Trail, sometimes known as Maroon Snowmass, is the best running trail out to Maroon Bells, one of America’s most photographed scenic vistas. The trail can be accessed from the Maroon Creek parking area. This rocky 1.8 mile trail winds through aspen fields and rock gardens before descending to Crater Lake. From there, runners can tack on an additional mile with a loop around the Maroon Bells Scenic Loop, bringing the total mileage to 4.6 miles. This is a more challenging trail due to the rocky footing.  [Note: $10 fee for day use of this area]
