Auckland, New Zealand

North Shore – Devonport

Devonport is at the southern end of Auckland’s north shore peninsula. It is also easily accessible by ferry from Auckland, and is a great place for a run. In just a little over 5k, experience a waterside road along Torpedo Bay, views from North Head Historic Reserve, and a modest hill run up and over Mount Victoria with great views.

Start at the ferry terminal and run along Kind Edward Rd. to the Reserve. At the Reserve, there are some good walking/running trails, which will take you through the reserve and over to Vauxhall Rd. A right on Albert Rd. will take you through a residential area, with a wide running lane, then enjoy Mount Victoria, with about 100m of gain, returning to the start.

Add-On: Run west of Victoria Rd. along Queens Parade Preserve, for about 1/2 km. to the Stanley Point Naval Base. Great views along here.
