Shevlin Park

Bend Parks and Recreation

Only 3 miles from Bend,  600-acre Shevlin Park is Bend’s largest park — and it has a great 6 mile loop curling around the rim of Tumalo Creek canyon. There is parking at Shevlin Commons just off Shevlin Park Road. From there, you can hop on the mountain bike trail which parallels the road until it meets up with the loop trail. The loop heads south through an old growth ponderosa patch for about 3 miles before crossing the river and turning back. A few steep hills as the canyon dips up add some toughness to the terrain, but overall this nicely graded trail is good footing and a pleasure to run on.

There are other good options to add on or vary the run. Tumalo Creek rambles through the park with several foot bridges providing opportunities to cross over to the Shevlin Conservation Easement, which features a parking area with a viewpoint and is popular with joggers.
