6 miles north of Birmingham center, Sutton Park is a 2,400 acre National Nature Reserve. It’s one of the largest urban nature parks in Europe, and is composed of miles upon miles of trails winding through woodland, marsh, and along the banks of no less than seven lakes. You can pretty much run for as long as you want here, but the park has mapped out an easily accessible 5k around the main trails and bridle paths which will take you past several pools and out to Jamboree Memorial Stone. For a quick respite from city life, it doesn’t get any better than the towering trees and open grazing lands of Sutton Park.
