Brooklyn – Prospect Park & Park Slope Neighborhood

Prospect Park is the signature running spot in Brooklyn. This ‘mini Central Park,’  is another iconic Olmsted project, with beautifully landscaped roads and paths. It’s a mix of fields, meadows, small lakes, and some wooded sections. Among the park features are Prospect Park Lake, a Japanese Garden, ballfields, & more.  There are numerous access points to the park, but it’s special to start at the Grand Army Plaza entrance at the park’s north end.

The Prospect Park Alliance has put together a running map of a 3.4 mile ‘inner loop’ and a 3.7 mile ‘outer loop’. Add more with the park’s numerous interior trails, roads, and paths.

Park Slope Area: Just west of the park, enjoy some of the brownstone-lined streets of the Park Slope neighborhood. Enjoy the rows of brownstone homes, with their steep stoops and narrow arched doorways. Create your own rote in the side streets east of 3rd Ave., between Union St. and the Prospect Expwy.
