Barnstable Village

Barnstable Village is a cute, typical Cape main St. with municipal government buildings, shops, and restaurants. We’ve put together a run consisting of two loops, combining for nearly 5 miles. Start at the Barnstable Fire Station (free bathroom in the basement!). The first loop is 2.75 miles, consisting of pleasant wooded roads. Head west on Main St. (6A), to Jail House Ln. Left for 1 mile, then come back to the village on Phinneys Ln. (Hyannis-Barnstable Rd.). There is a sidewalk on Phinneys, with pleasant homes to look at while running.

The second ‘loop’ is more interesting and attractive, with a jaunt down to the water and views out to marshes. From the village, head down Millway toward the water. There are pleasant views as things open up, and there’s a sidewalk. Turn right on Commerce Rd., and run 1 mile back to Main St. Pleasant views. Note there’s no sidewalk on Commerce Rd. but there is a soft shoulder.

Nirvana is a great place for a post-run coffee and popular with runners!
