The Cayman Islands

Cayman Brac Island Running Options

The quiet island of Cayman Brac is not as frequently visited by tourists as the other Cayman Islands, but visitors can find multiple options for a run around its scenic bluff.

Lighthouse Road: One of the most popular options is the “Lighthouse Road” (Major Donald Drive) which spans the top of Cayman Brac’s namesake bluff all the way out to the lighthouse on the far east end of the island. Here, runners will be graced with expansive ocean views. From the intersection with Bluff Road, it’s about 9.4 km, one way. From the intersection with Ann Tatum Road, it’s about 5.3 km. MAP.

South Side Road: This stretch along the southern coast of Cayman Brac is some of the finest waterside running in the Caymans. Most runners start out on the west side, near the Cayman Brac Beach Resort, and run east. You can also start at the Aston Rutty Civic Center on Bluff Road, then head south to run west along South Side Road. This route offers a bit of extra hillwork coming up and down the bluff, not to mention views. From the Beach Resort to the Civic Center is about 11 km, so run the whole stretch or choose one terminus to begin and end. MAP
