Dick Woods Road

Rivanna.org

Escaping to the country from Charlottesville is easy, so if you’re craving a pastoral run through rolling farmland and shady woods with killer views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, look no further than Dick Woods Road near Crozet, where you can run up to 7.5 miles in one direction. The gravel sprawl of Dick Woods is something of a legend among Charlottesville area runners. It’s a tough training ground where you can rack up both mileage and hills, but with views like these, you’ll never want to quit!  Note: hilly — it’s a 567 foot gain in the one-way direction.

The area is about 15 miles west of downtown.

Essentials
  • 7.5 miles (one way)
  • 567 feet (one-way, east to west)
  • Miller School Road
  • Route 250 -- about 15 miles west of downtown
