Delaware Park

Nationally recognized as one of the “greatest places in America,” Delaware Park is the “jewel” of Buffalo’s Olmsted park system, with 350 acres of beautiful meadow, forest and lake. It’s one of the best running spots in Buffalo. The park contains many of Buffalo’s cultural institutions, the Buffalo Zoo, and several lovely gardens. A highlight is the historic Parkside Lodge (1914), which also houses the Delaware Meadows Golf Course Pro Shop. The Lodge’s handsome “Great Room”, tended croquet lawns, and a fenced picnic lawn.

Running options include the 1.75 mile “Meadow Loop”, which is a trail paralleling Meadow Rd. We’ve also mapped out a 10k route around the perimeter park, including some of the nicer parkways. Nearby, Delaware Ave. is great for running,  referred to as “Millionaire’s Row,” due to the dozens of mansions that line the road.

Add-Ons: Great opportunities to add on: Hoyt Lake, the Forest Lawn cemetery, Delaware Ave. mansions, and nearby Lincoln, Bidwell, and Chapin parkways.
