Buffalo Park (Nate Avery Trail)

Though technically part of the Flagstaff Urban Trail System, the ever-popular Buffalo Park loop stands out as one of Flagstaff’s best running options. This 2-mile circuit is relatively flat, featuring great views of the San Francisco range, Mount Elden, and the Dry Lake Hills from its perch atop McMillan Mesa. The surface is hard packed cinder, flowing through open grasslands and deep woods before returning to the buffalo statue and seasonal pond at the entrance of the park.

The big meadows can be especially beautiful during desert wildflower season.

Add ons: Switzer Canyon Trail, Arizona Trail, Oldham Trail, all part of the FUTS system.
