Trail in Botanical State Park

Key Largo is the largest and northernmost section of the Florida Keys — about an hour drive from Miami and Ft. Lauderdale airports. The area is a popular diving and ecotourism spot. In addition to being the northern terminus of the Overseas Heritage Trail (mile marker 106), there are a couple of other spots in Key Largo that are great for running. The best places to run in Key Largo:

  • Overseas Heritage Trail. Mile Marker 106, runs continuously to MM 91 in Islamadora. See our detailed OHT map with the best sections for running.
  • Key Largo Hammock Botanical State Park. Lovely botanical gardens six miles of nature trails, mostly paved. Marked 1-mile 3-mile trail popular with runners. Located 1/2 mile north of Mile Marker 106 of the Overseas Heritage Trail. $3 admission.
  • Ocean Bay Dr. If you want some variety from the OHT, run 1 mile on Ocean Bay Dr., which has a bike path and nice views of the marina and boats. Add on with some of the neighborhood streets. There’s also a community park with a couple of nice, shaded trails.
