Fort McHenry

Surrounded by water on three sides, Fort McHenry, the birthplace of the “The Star-Spangled Banner,” sits at the mouth of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. It’s one of the top visitor destinations in Baltimore. A loop around the main path is ~1 mile. A good way to get in some hills! The site was designed by the Olmsted brothers.

We’ve also mapped a 3-mile route from the from the famed Charm City Running Store. Use Fort Ave. and then run on the waterfront path around the the Fort (hilly at the fort!). Alternativly use Nicholson for part of the route.

Access from Inner Harbor: From the southwest end of the Inner Harbor Path to Fort McHenry, it’s 1.2 miles, using Fort St. Not that scenic, but runnable.

Note: See Park Service home page for hours and fees
