Eagle Creek Park

Eagle Creek Park is one of the most popular places to run in the Indianapolis area. Located 13 miles west of downtown, it is one of the largest metropolitan greens paces in the nation, consisting of 3,300 acres of woodland and 1,300 acres of water. The park is located on the northwest side of Indianapolis and includes 5K, 8K, and 10K certified road courses, along with an uncertified 7K course that all begin near the beach parking lot. The trails are mainly wooded, with some lakeside sections. The terrain is a combination of flat and gently. Trails are clearly marked with wooden posts.

In addition to the measured courses, there are also 10 miles of rolling to challenging natural-surface trails, which wind along the reservoir and through forests. The most popular is nicknamed the “Blue Man Trail”, due to the markers consisting of the outline of a man in blue with walking poles. The loop is roughly 6 miles.

The park has many other facilities once you’re there — a beach, marina, nature center, and Ornithology Center.
