Yoshidayama Hill and Green Space

Just north north of Okazaki park and east of Kyoto University is Yoshidayama Park and Green Space. The area consists of Yoshidayama Hill, home to the pagodas of the Kurodani and Shinnyodo, temples, as well as the picturesque Yoshida shrine.

This area makes for an interesting, centrally located run. There are shaded paths, roads, and a series of stairs crisscrossing the park and heading to the shrines. This is a great opportunity to get in some hill practice. Best to design your own path. It’s about 1.5 km (1 mile) from one end to the other, but it’s possible to put together a couple of km overall. It’s only a 2-3 km east of the Imperial Palace Garden and Kamo River paths, for a longer run.

One neat spot the enjoy in this area is Green Space Cafe, with a menu specializing in natural foods.
