Lauderdale By The Sea is located on a long, narrow barrier island separated from the mainland by the Intracoastal Waterway (spanned by one drawbridge at Commercial Boulevard), stretching approximately one-half dozen blocks to the Atlantic Ocean. Brightly-colored banners anchor the town boundaries and colorful directional signs jointly help you find your way while also celebrating the town’s identity as a charming, seaside village. Not a long run but worth it — this mile stretch takes you down El Mar Drive, located ocean side, along the beautiful powdery white sand beaches.
