Salt Lake City

Liberty Park – Downtown SLC

Close to most of Salt Lake City’s popular offices and hotels, Liberty Park is an easily accessible, and popular downtown running spot. This is the City’s second-largest public, urban park (behind Sugarhouse Park), offering 80 acres of beautifully maintained greenery.  Moreover, located at the park’s perimeter, there is a fairly new 1.5 mile woodchip running path, that is both flat and very soft on the knees. The Park’s 1.3 mile inside running path is paved, and flat. There’s a small lake at the park’s southern end.

On this route, you will pass several of Salt Lake City’s well-known landmarks: the Grateful Tomato Garden, Chase Home Museum, and Tracy Aviary.

Grateful Tomato Garden: Beautiful garden includes an artesian well, a straw bale greenhouse, and a hoop house. Pumpkins, pears, apples, tomatoes, peaches, corn, strawberries, raspberries, and several herbs are regulars in this garden.

Chase Home Museum: The only museum in the country dedicated to displaying a state-owned collection of Folk art.

Tracy Aviary: Highly regarded, 8-acre aviary offering various exhibits, shows, and encounters.

Add-Ons: There’s terrific residential neighborhood running in Grand View and Liberty Wells, just south of the park. East of the park, nice running in Woodbury, and even nicer just east of there in YalecrestSugar House Park is 2.5 miles south east. Central city and downtown are just to the north.
