Camden is one of those postcard picture Maine coastal towns. Looking out on the chain of islands which dot Penobscot Bay is a highlight of visiting Maine, especially when the treetops turn red and yellow against the blue water. There are a couple of great running options in the area. Camden Hills State Park, just north of the quaint coastal fishing village, is a good spot. For a challenge, you can run/hike up Mount Battie, and be rewarded with stunning views from the summit. There’s also a multi use trail, which runs around five miles of the park. The boggy scenery of this path will add a flourish of color to your run.

If you prefer a run closer to town with less elevation, the village of Camden has scenic coastal roads with harbor views and a nice Main Street with good shopping and restaurants. We’ve mapped out a 3 mile route along Bay View, which runs along the harbor, circling back onto Chestnut Street which will carry you back to town.
