Marine Drive (Girgaon, South Mumbai)

Marine Drive is one of the prettiest and continuous road runs one can do in Mumbai. Adoining Girgaum Chowpatty (beach), it is also one of the most popular running spots, with its dedicated jogging tracks with views to the water on one side, and the Mumbai skyline. The main stretch is the 4 km between NCPA and Wilson College. It’s one of the spots in Mumbai you’ll see runners at any time. The area is also popular at night. There’s a slight grade – a bit downhill for the first half heading south and rolling in the second half.

This is one of the longest continuous runs in Mumbai. Well lit enough to run at night. Distances, from Wilson College on the path (km/mi):

  • Aquarium:  1.3/0.8
  • Government offices: 2.6/1.6
  • Bombay High Court: 3.5/2.1
  • Nariman Point/German Consulate: 4.3/2.7
Essentials
  • 4.3 km (2.7 miles) from Wilson College (north) to Nariman Point (south)
  • 86 feet one way
  • Any point. Northern terminus is Wilson College and south is Nariman Point
  • Transport stops along the way. North: Charni Rd. South: Churchgate
