Playa Brava is a great beach for running in Punta del Este. It’s wide, and has good sections of firm, packed sand. The beach stretches for nearly 5 km from the southwestern end at Los Dedos (Hand Sculpture) to the northeastern end at an isthmus in El Placer. The beach is on the ‘rougher’ side and features larger waves than the Mansa side.

The road alongside the beach is not great for running — it’s busy Highway 10, and lacks a decent shoulder. There’s not much along this road – but there is a bus that allows for a one-way run and return.

Essentials
  • ~ 5km one-way
  • flat
  • Southwestern end: Los Dedos (Hand Sculpture)
  • Good bus access in area; Bus along Highway 10
