Quito, Ecuador

Parque Metropolitano del Sur

For visitors to the south end of Quito, the 750 hectare Parque Metropolitano del Sur is a sprawling and beautiful option for a run of any length. It’s the largest park in Quito. Runners can find both stone-paved cycling paths and dirt singletrack to rack up the distance through tree cover and expansive vistas of the surrounding valley. The park has a less-developed, more secluded feel than those closer to the city center, but it’s a redeeming option in otherwise starved-for-running southern Quito. On the main path, runners can travel up to 12 km out and back.
