Visitors may not expect it, but the area surrounding the tiny Reykjavik Airport, which services many of Iceland’s domestic flights (not to be confused with Keflavik Airport), makes for a scenic and breezy 7 km (4.5 mile) run. Our route starts out in the beautiful Vatnsmyri Swamp, right in the heart of town. From there, go south on the path along the Nautholsvegur road, where you’ll pass the futuresque exterior of the Perlan Museum on your left, then the Reykjavik University on your right. Turn LEFT just past the University and continue on the coastal path, which passes beaches and expansive ocean views. At Suðurgata, turn RIGHT and follow the sidewalk of Njarðargata towards the airport terminal and then back to Vatnsmyri Swamp.
