Reykjavik, Iceland

Reykjavik Sculpture and Shore Walk

This route around the Reykjavik harbor area is one of the most scenic runs in the city, utilizing a pedestrian friendly-path spanning over 5 km (3 miles) along the waterfront. In addition to the steady views of the Kollafjörður fjord, runners can enjoy a number of fascinating sculptures, including the popular “Sun Voyager,” “The Cairn,” and “Partnership.” Other sites along the way include the beautiful glass Harpa Concert Hall, an enormous mural on the Ministry of Fisheries, the Höfðatorg, and the Höfði House, home of the 1986 summit between Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev. While the Sculpture and Shore Walk links to a number of other paths around Reykjavik, the best section for runners is heading east from the Grandagarður station. Turn back when you reach the Viðey island ferry terminal after about 5 km (3 miles).
