The capital of Rhode Island and New England’s third largest city,  Providence is home to Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design. Located at the head of the Narragansett Bay, with the Providence River running into the bay through the center of the city, there are several beautiful places to run in Providence and Newport, Rhode Island. The running highlight is the East Bay bike trail, which runs for 14 miles from Providence to Bristol, much of it along the water. For history and architecture, enjoy our route in the College Hill neighborhood. The Waterplace Park amphitheater and river-walks line the river’s banks through the downtown area.

We also have guides for other nearby areas in Rhode Island: Newport, the Narragansett area, Westerly/Misquamicut Beach, and more!
