Coronado Island & Silver Strand Beach/Bikeway

Coronado Island has become a destination in San Diego since the Hotel Del Coronado was built in 1900. It’s a great place for running, with numerous options.

Coronado Island Loop. A great way to check out Coronado Island, our 6-mile island loop starts at Tidelands Park, incorporating the golf course, Ferry Landing, Sunset Park, Hotel Del Coronado, and ending by going under the Coronado Bridge. Of course you can add to the run by continuing on to the back.

Silver Strand Beach/Bayshore Bikeway. Several miles of beach running possible, combining Silver Strand Beach and Imperial Beach. Another good option is the paved Bayshore Bikeway/Silver Strand Bikeway, which runs along San Diego Bay. It’s nearly 7 miles between Fiddlers Cove Marina and Main St. in Chula Vista. For the most scenic sections, we recommend parking at the Bayshore Bikeway Parking Lot off Silver Strand Blvd., and running the 3 miles toward Chula Vista or or 1 mile to Coronado Cays Park. Add-Ons: Additonal beach running at Imperial Beach. Also lovely trail running at the Tijuana Slough/River Estuary.
