A good alternative to the Catania Harbor run is a nice jog along one of Catania’s many flat and wide sandy beaches. The most popular of these public beaches is simply known as “La Playa,” a 4 km stretch of golden sand and turquoise waters with great views of Mt. Etna towering above. Starting from the access point at the end of Strada Boschetto Playa, you can run south for up to 4 km before the public access ends near the Villaggio Turistico Europea. The sand is mostly flat and firm, but go at low tide for best conditions.
