Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN

St.Paul – Summit Ave. Area & Capitol

Summit Avenue stretches from the Mississippi River in the west towards downtown St. Paul. The tree-lined street offers a spectacular look at some of the most prestigious homes in the city. The residential streets on either side of Summit are also pleasant for running. Macalaster College is just south of Summit Avenue and has a pretty, classic campus, and lovely residential side streets. At the eastern end of Summit Avenue, pass by beautiful St. Paul Cathedral. We recommend extending the route slightly along John Ireland Boulevard for great views of the State Capitol, making it 5.2 miles from the river to the Capitol.

One can do this run one-way and hop on the bus back, which runs along Grand Ave., or the light rail, which is accessible near the Capitol/downtown and runs along University Ave.

Essentials
  • 5.2 miles ONE-WAY. Nice add-on opportunities
  • Mississippi River Blvd. & Summit Ave.
  • Light Rail: Green Line runs along University. Bus Runs Along Grand Ave. just south of Summit Ave.
