Toronto: City

Distillery District/Don Valley Trails

This run includes a tour of the Distillery Historic District, and then 3 km along the Lower Don Trail. It’s a good option slightly east of downtown. Start at the intersection of Yonge and Front in the heart of the financial district (Hockey Hall of Fame). Run east along Front St., and then onto the Esplanade and Mill St through the Distillery Historic District (fun shops, restaurants). Join the Lower Don River Trail in the aptly named Corktown Commons at the ~3 km mark. The Lower Don Trail goes along the river, paralleling the Don Valley Parkway, for another 3 km to the intersection with Bloor St.

Add-Ons: There are additional trail spurs in Riverdale Park East and West. The Don Trail continues nearly another 3 miles, through numerous parks, to Todmorden Village, or even further north through several parks, to Edwards Gardens (see our route). Also at Bloor St., one can connect with the Beltline Trail just to the west across Bayview.

Essentials
  • 3.8 miles ONE-WAY from Yonge & Front to trail intersection at Bloor; Option: ~3 miles one-way to end of trail
  • Yonge St. & Front St. - Hockey Hall of Fame
  • TTC: Union Station
