Ombrone River (Grosseto)

While Florenceā€™s Arno River gets all the attention from runners, the Ombrone River, which flows through the Grosseto area, is an equally fantastic destination for a jog. Locals say the whole of the river valley makes for good running, but some of the quietest and most scenic roads are those through Maremma Regional Park, where the river flows into the Tyrrhenian Sea. The cycle paths in the park are a good option for a safe and easy to follow route. Mainly you’ll be following the Strada del Mare, for up to 7.7 km one-way.

Essentials
  • Up to 7.7 km (4.8 miles) one-way, or 15 km out and back
