False Creek Loop

The “False Creek Loop” is referred to in Vancouver running circles as the part of the Seawall path that begins around Sunset Bech/Burrard St., runs past the Plaza of Nations, Science World, the Olympic Village and continues through Granville Island. Great water views, skyline views, and tour of Vancouver’s ever-growing glass condo high rises.

Our loop is 5.7 miles. It is a paved, brick-like path, well signed, with separate paths for cyclists and pedestrians. Starting at the downtown edge of Burrard Bridge, stay on the north side of False Creek and follow the path. You’ll pass parks, with highrises and the Yaletown neighborhood on your left. At about the half-way point, see the Plaza of Nationss (Olympics), BC Place Stadium (Lions football and FC Whitecaps soccer), and the Rogers Center (Canucks, hockey). The route then loops around to the south side of the water, heading through Creekside Park and the Telus Science Discovery Center. Just follow the signs for Seaside. Lovely parks and plantings along the way, concluding with the Island Walk Park path near Granville Island.

The route can be extended on the downtown side by heading north to English Bay and Stanley Park, or on the southern end by running along some of the streets of Granville Island or along the Seawall to Kits Beach and Jericho Beach Park. There are fun restaurants and parks in the Kitsilano area, and pleasant residential streets for running as well.
