Maine: Southern Coast

York: Village and York Harbor Loop

This is a lovely run incorporating the best of historic York Village and the the seaport town of York Harbor. Much of the route is along waterside roads, with some especially nice sections.

Start in quaint York Village, and run south on Lindsay Rd. toward the water for 0.5 miles. The next two miles are especially scenic: Turn LEFT on Mill Dam Rd., which leads to the Wiggley Bridge over the York River. Run on the waterfront path, continuing on Fisherman’s Walk — thanks to a private easement! Take an 0.5 mile out Stage Neck Rd., and then continue for 0.5 miles on the Cliff Walk Trail.

The next section is a  1-mile loop around East Point and Cow Beach Point, using Norwood Farms Rd. and Roaring Rock Rd. For the return, two options: LEFT on Eureka Ave., LEFT on Sheru Ln., RIGHT on Woodbridge (no sidewalk) back to York Village. Or, retrace your steps along the water (or take 1A), and take York St. (decent sidewalk) and Barrell Ln. back to York Village.

Shorter Options: The route can be shortened by eliminating the East Point Loop. You can also start in York Harbor and eliminate about 1.5 miles of Lindsay Rd. and Rt. 1A.

Add-Ons: Coming of East Point, continue north on York Ave. to reach York Beach and join our route there.
