The Ada Ciganlija, located 5 km southeast of central Belgrade, is a popular lake for swimming and other water spots. The 8 km loop around the lake’s perimeter is also a favorite Belgrade run. The route is all off-road, on a paved multi-use path.

A good place to start the route is at the car park on the southeast side. It’s an easy to follow lakeside path. There are separate cycle and pedestrian paths, with those on foot getting the best lake views! There’s also a running track at the sports complex at the southeast end near the parking lot. There are also numerous spots for other recreational activities, spots to eat, and restrooms.  Note: there’s a nudist beach at the northwest end.

Longer Option: There are some additional paths inland from the lakeside path, and at the northeast end around the marina. You can also take the quick ferry across the Sava River to access some of the paths on the north side of the river.

Essentials
  • Loop is 8.2 km (5.1 miles)
  • Flat
  • Car Park at the southeast end
  • A good approach from downtown is to use Cara Urosa
