ATEED

The walkway and scenic bridge that loop around Auckland’s Orakei Basin make for a quick 3 km (2 mile) run. The track, initiated as a link between the eastern suburbs and downtown Auckland, is a wooden walk with water views all the way. A fun section dives down alongside the train tracks. For more mileage, it’s great to combine with the Auckland Domain run or the Tamaki Drive run.

Note: the walkway is not very wide, so you may find yourself having to yield to cyclists and groups if you go during busy hours (on weekends and during the morning and evening commutes).

Essentials
  • 3.2 km (2 miles), with longer options
  • 130 feet
  • Orakei Basin West Reserve off Upland Street
  • You can park at Upland Street, or start at the Orakei or Meadowbank train stations
