El Saler is noted as one of the best beaches in Valencia, with fine white sand that’s great for running. The beach is tucked into a wetland natural area with miles of dune-laced trails. For a scenic run, you can run on the beach one way and return via the Albufera Natural Area trails of the barrier beach which runs between the ocean and the Pobles del Sud. However, Valencia Ciudad del Running suggests taking a long run on the bike path which connects the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (downtown) with El Saler. The path is about 12k (7.5 miles) one way — so it’s a good choice if you want to run to El Saler, spend the day, and take a bus back. Lots of runners use this long, flat route for marathon training purposes. It’s also a popular cycling route. There are a few street crossings and changes in terrain where it get confusing, but you can follow the map or find a detailed description of the route (in Spanish) here.
