Bachman Lake (Northwest Dallas)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Running around Bachman Lake is a solid off-road route in Northwest Dallas, near Love Field Airport. The 205 acre freshwater lake has a 3.1 mile paved perimeter path, which presents a good running opportunity in an area of busy roads. There are good water views most of the way, and a close-up view of airplanes landing at and taking off from Love Field Airport at the southern bank of the lake. Note that the path is quite open and un-shaded, so be prepared on a hot day.

The park itself has an exercise circuit with 16 stations along the trail, boating, and picnic areas. Plenty of water fountains and benches are available, and a restroom facility is on the south side.

Essentials
  • 3.1 mile perimeter loop
  • 84 feet
  • Park entrance: Northwest Highway and Lakefield Blvd
  • Access to the trail is from Northwest Highway and Lakefield Blvd.
