New Orleans, LA

Woldenberg Park / Crescent Park

Known as a popular place for weddings, the beautiful Woldenberg Park lies directly next to the Mississippi River. It’s the best running opportunity for those staying in the French Quarter or in the hotels near the Audubon Aquarium and the casino. You’ll enjoy the various ships floating down the river, as well as the interesting sculptures that dot the landscape near the docks. Wide walkways wind through the lush landscape and public art. For a quieter, less busy run, visit the park in the morning – this is also the best time to catch a cool breeze off the Mississippi. Throughout the year, the Park is also known for hosting several large events. The most popular event is the French Quarter Festival in April, which features the best New Orleans musical performers.

Crescent Park was built as part of New Orleans’ post-Katrina revitalization efforts. It’s not a long run, but it is attractive, following right along the banks of the Mississippi River. Runners can take on the path as a 3 mile out and back, but this route also connects nicely to Woldenberg Park, the Lafitte Greenway, or the Central City Loop. Park Map.
