In the western part of Barrie, we’ve put together a route combining three parks, with a few road connections: Arboretum/Sunnidale Park, trails in the Sandy Hollow Buffer, and Lampman Park. Much of the route is on sections of the Nine Mile Portage Heritage Trail, the original historic portage route.

Start off Sunnidale Rd. in the Arboretum/Sunnidale Park. There’s a nice path through this Arboretum, for ~1 km. Exit onto Cundles Rd. for a 1.5 km road connection to Cundles West Park, where a trail leads to Sandy Hollow Buffer. Here is an optional 3.5 km out to Dobson Rd./Sunnidale Rd. on the Nine Mile Portage Heritage Trail. This is a fairly flat section through fields and woods. Returning to the Sandy Hollow Disc Course, continue on the trail across Ferndale Rd. and a stream to a short road section on Browning Trail into Lampman Park. Follow the trail north through the park and conclude the route on Leacock Dr.

Shorter Option: Save 3.5 km by not running on the Portage trail out to Dobson.
