There is some lovely running around the Salt Pond Visitor Center, which is the HQ of the National Seashore. There are several options from the Visitor Center, offering a variety of marsh trails, bike paths, with the opportunity to get down to Coast Guard Beach or run out to the Nauset Lighthouse.
- Nauset Marsh Trail. From the Visitor Center, this 1.3 mile loop winds along the edge of Salt Pond and Nauset Marsh, crosses fields, and returns to the Salt Pond Visitor Center through a recovering forest. There are several spectacular vistas along the way. Surface is sandy, generally runnable, sections can be submerged at high tide. Can be extended with Nauset Trail
- Nauset Trail. 1.6 mile paved bike trail from the Visitor Center to Coast Guard Beach. Rolling hills!
For a longer run, combine the Nauset Marsh Trail loop and the Nauset bike trail. From the end of the Nauset Trail at Coast Guard Beach, jump onto Ocean View Dr. for a mile, to Nauset Light Beach and the Nauset Lighthouse. For the return, retrace your steps, using the Nauset Trail Path or Doane Rd. (no shoulder or sidewalk).
