This is a great opportunity to do a longer run along one of the more ‘runnable’ major roads in the area, including the famed Coco Beach. The route is from Nice to the small town of Villefranche-sur-Mer, starting on Avenue Jean Lorrain and then following the M6098, also called Boulevard Carnot/Boulevard Princesse Grâce de Monaco. The road is above the water and features good views much of the way. There is a sidewalk or shoulder of varying amounts of width. Closer to Villefranche-sur-Mer, get off the main road onto the M225/Avenue Georges Clemenceau, and follow it into town or to the train station. This is a great run to do one-way, and hop on the train for 20 minutes back to Nice! Do as much as you like for a there and back.
There are a couple of nice detour options: Just south of Coco Beach, there’s a waterside trail called Sentier Littoral, which runs for about 1 km one-way. The trail is part gravel, part rock, part steps. It can nice walking/hiking detour or a good running challenge…just watch your footing!
Add-Ons: Sentier Littoral. Also, Mont-Boron is accessible by trail from this route.
- 5.7 km (3.6 miles) one-way
- 480 feet - HILLY
- Nice: Near Port; Villefranche-Sur-Mer: center or train station
- Train runs between the towns, as does the bus.
