Sheep’s Head Cliffs

Creative Commons: Colin Park

Sheep’s Head is one of the most scenic areas in Cork. The entire peninsula loop is an 88-mile drive. There are some 20 different marked walks on Sheep’s Head. A moderately challenging trail run, and a favorite among runners, is the 4 km Lighthouse Loop, which circles the far tip of the peninsular. The footing is generally good  — a mix of dirt and grass, a bit narrow in spots, and a couple of rocky sections. But the challenge is rewarded with a very scenic run. The tip of the headland is rocky and steep.

This can be combined with other trails on the peninsula.
