Georgstraße & Central Hannover ‘Runseeing’ Tour

When it comes to street running in Hannover, the best bet by far is the Georgstraße, the main drag through the downtown area. Use Georgstraße as the anchor for creating your own ‘running tour’ of central/historic Hannover, which lies between the Leine River and the Central train station. Here, runners will find themselves right in the hustle and bustle of downtown, but that’s part of the appeal. The wide brick and concrete sidewalks in the pedestrianized median of Georgstraße offer a nice tour of central Hannover, passing by monuments and the Staatsoper Hannover opera house before arriving at the pedestrian-only shopping center. The whole strip is about 1.5 km from the Hannover Aegidientorplat to Steintor U Stop, and is especially pretty at night and when lit up for the holidays.

The strip makes a nice addition to Georgengarten or a loop with the Leine River and Maschpark paths for a full tour of downtown Hannover.
