Lake Macbride State Park is another great spot for a destination run. Located 15 miles north of Iowa City, this 2180-acre park is a popular spot for fishing, boating, swimming, camping, & hiking. It’s also a great spot for running, with several miles of easy to moderate trails. This trail map has good information on the trail locations, distances, and level of difficulty. Some recommendations:
Lake Macbride Trail. The best bet for a run at the park. 5-mile multi-use trail along the northern side of the lake. Combination of lakeside, wooded, and some open prairie.
Beach to Dam Trail. 1 mile, but among the more scenic.
Trail Running Trails. 7 miles of trails rated as easy-to-moderate.
