Golden Gate Park is the left coast version of New York’s Central Park. The Park runs from Highway 1 at the ocean to the west, to the Haight-Ashbury area to the east.
The Great Highway runs for 3.8 miles from the Cliff House to Lake Merced in the Sunset/Ocean Beach area. A 2-mile stretch is closed to cars. Run on the road, beach, or interior bike path. Scenic & festive!
Scenic loop options on this man-made island, adjacent to the Jefferson Memorial. Great views of the water, Reagan Airport & D.C. landmarks. Can be run standalone or combined with Mall/Memorials tour. Ohio Dr. now has a dedicated cycle/pedestrian lane.
Wonderful option to enjoy shade and Washington’s lush foliage. Mainly wooded terrain with both paved multi-use paths & more rugged trails. Three 'sections', from Memorial Bridge to Rockville, MD. ~4 mile section of Beach Dr. closed to traffic.
Some excellent running options near O'Hare Airport and the major office park areas in the vicinity such as Schaumberg, Rosemont, Arlington Heights, Hoffman Estates. Many trails and paths in the large network of Forest Preserves, and the Des Plaines River Trail.
A fantastic run featuring the Grandview Promenade (uses the incline railway to access it), which offers great views of the Monongahela & Pittsburgh skyline. Loops back using the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. Can add with hillside trails.
This is interesting area near the Los Angeles Airport, combining a unique and scenic trail along Ballona Creek and wetlands, and a run along the beach in Playa Del Ray.
Lots of great running options here, from the 282 steps to the Baldwin Overlook to several miles in Kenneth Hahn Park and a 1.5 mile neighborhood path following Stocker St.
A loop around two lakes is a running oasis in busy downtown L.A. Of the two, Echo Lake Park is prettier. It's 1.5 miles between the lakes -- not the prettiest connection, but runnable. At Silver Lake, serious hills on Baxter St. & the Mattachine Steps.
