Features:
Surrounded on three sides by the St. Lawrence River, Wellesley Island is one of the largest of the Thousand Islands. The islands features two State Parks, a nature center, and three golf courses. Highway 81 crosses the island, with the Thousand Islands International Bridge said to be the “smallest vehicular international bridge in the world”. There are numerous spots to run on Wellesley Island, but a favorite is the 6.5 mile waterfront stretch on the southern part of the island, mainly along Rt. 100a (Peel Dock Rd.) and Rt. 100 (Thousand Island Park Rd.). There are lovely homes and views of the St. Lawrence River a good part of the way. The east end is at the Wellesley Island Boat Rentals, and the west end is at Thousand Island Park Marina. The out and back is a popular local half-marathon route!
