San Francisco: North

Tiburon & Belvedere Waterfront

Creative Commons: Brocken Inaglory

Across the bay from San Francisco and east of Suasalito, the Tiburon/Belvedere area offers some attractive waterfront running opportunities. Our favorite run is a 4-mile out and back waterfront route in Tiburon. Start at Beach Rd. near Belvedere Park, and run east along the water to the Tiburon Ferry Terminal (ferries to Angle Island, San Francisco). Continue east, through lovely Shoreline Park and then on Paradide Dr. to Lyford’s Stone Tower, featuring great views. Bear right on Mar E. St. to the end  — this section features nice homes and occasional water views. You could also start this run at Tiburon Ferry.

Longer Run: Belvedere Island Loop Add the 3-mile loop around Belvedere Island. It’s fairly hilly, and mixes nice homes and water views on a relatively quiet road. Note: no shoulder/sidewalk.

Add-Ons: Enjoy the quieter residential streets in the hills above Tiburon harbor. Note Paradise Dr. is narrow and has no shoulder.
