Trail Running Recommendations – Valley

Tourism Whistler/Mike Crane

Whistler has a wealth of trail running opportunities, a great variety of terrain and something for all abilities. Our focus is on trails that are easy to moderate — not technical or super-challenging. This section is focused on recommendations in the Valley. See this post for recommended trail running on Whistler-Blackomb. Be sure to pick up a printed copy of this TRAIL MAP.

Interpretive Forest/Cheakamus River. Wonderful trails here — fairly flat and smooth, along the Cheakamus River. One can run for several km, to Loggers Lake, or Garibaldi Provincial Park/Cheakamus Lake. There are also some gravel service roads in the area. A forest trail/bridge/river crossing leads to Train Wreck (abandoned cars from an actual wreck). Off Highway 99 at Cheakamus Lake Rd.

XC Trails Around Lost Lake. In addition to the loop around the lake, these winter XC ski trails are great for running in summer. Well-marked, and options for easy-medium-difficult. TRAIL MAP

Emerald Forest/River Runs Through It Trail Network. Popular with mountain bikers and a little more rugged. Generally wooded. Numerous parking areas/trailheads, see map. Can be combined with gorgeous section of Valley Trail along River of Golden Dreams.
