The Costanera is a classic waterfront promenade along the Paraguay River. On the west end, the cement pathway begins in Parque Solidaridad/Asunción Port. After about 0.5 km, the path splits into two options: the waterfront route along the beach, or the inland paths of Parque Bicentennial and Parque Lineal de la Costanera de Asunción. This is the liveliest part of the boardwalk, but the path continues east along the roadway for a total of 4 km along the bay, as far as the Rotonda Costanera Asunció. Runners could take on an out and back of up to 8 km, or loop back on the other side of the road for a little variety.
