Mexicali is located just south of the US border, near southeast California. It’s a large, fertile valley known for its agriculture, aerospace industry, and restaurants. The options for running in Mexicali aren’t great, but here’s our selection of the best places to run in Mexicali:
Ciudad Deportiva: “Sports City” is one of the go-to runs in Mexicali. There’s a straightforward running track for sprints and the like, but runners can also jog the ~2 km track around the sports fields. ROUTE MAP.
Bosque de la Ciudad: Bosque de la Ciudad is a zoo and aviary, but it’s also one of Mexicali’s most popular recreation areas. A 2.7 km loop encircles the pond, and there are some additional side paths to explore. ROUTE MAP.
El Ciempies: Those seeking an easygoing trail run in the Mexicali area may enjoy the “El Ciempiés” route just west of the city. It’s a 3.5 loop with great views and only mild hill work, but runners should come prepared for the heat. ROUTE MAP.
