The Baja California Peninsula is the long spit of land that lies between the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of California in western Mexico. It’s actually two Mexican states: Baja California and Baja California Sur (BCS). Baja is home to some of Mexico’s largest cities, like Tijuana and Mexicali, and some of its most popular vacation destinations, like Cabo San Lucas and La Paz. We’ve combined the whole region into this guide to the best places to run in Baja California.
Here you’ll find guides to running in Tijuana and Mexicali, as well as routes in some of the seaside cities and trails in Baja California. Our guide to Baja California Sur includes some fantastic coastal boardwalks in La Paz and Loreto. For more, see our separate guide to running in Cabo San Lucas/San Jose del Cabo.
Baja California is a large region, so if you plan on visiting more than one city, a car is crucial. Otherwise, you’ll need to fly to and from destinations.
