Wellsway/Entry Hill

Derek Harper

Both rolling and steep hills abound in Bath, making this a great city for your incline training. One of the top spots locals recommend for a steady hill stint is Wellsway, a sidewalked street stretching from Bear Flat to the Entry Hill Golf Course. From the Bear Flat Bus Stop to the roundabout near St. Martin’s Hospital is approximately 2 km (1.2 miles). Wellsway is not heavily trafficked, but it is a fairly busy street. For a slightly quieter run, a good alternative is the Entry Hill road. (To get here, bear left off Wellsway approximately .4 km from Bear Flat). From Bear Flat to the fields at the top of the hill is about 1.6 km. Both routes are lined with some lovely flats and other residential buildings.

One could make this a loop of course, doing Wellsway one way and Entry Hill the other.
