The one really good running route in Beziers is centered on the ~7 km of paths along the River Orb, which includes the Jardin des Évêques and a jaunt across the Pont Vieux.
Out and Back Route: Start at the Table d’orientation Béziers, near the iconic, 13th-century Cathédrale Saint-Nazaire. The Pl. de Albigeois path passes through the Jardin des Évêques and around the Cathedral, with some additional paths and stairs as an option. Make sure you include a jaunt across the scenic Pont Vieux. This first section is 1.5 km.
The next section is 2.4 km south on paths alongside the Orb River. The path is mostly below street level right along the river, passing a series of locks (écluse). There are good views of the water and the city above. You’ll run past the Pont Rouge, marina, an outdoor fitness station, and a running track at the Stade de Sauclières. This section of path end at the rotary of Av. Fernand Sastre/Av. Joseph Lazare. Retrace your steps or continue south along the river for a longer run.
Longer Option: The river path continues for another 4.3 km south, passing the Écluse d’Arièges (lock), and ending the Écluse de Villeneuve.
